New in 0.3.1What’s new

See your Git grow.

Adar is a fast, visual Git client for every repository — GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps or your own server. It drives the git you already have, with the keys you already use.

Why “Adar”

adar

a·dariz. · noun · euskara

  1. 1

Antler, horn. Oreinaren adarrak — the antlers of a deer.

  2. 2

Branch of a tree. Zuhaitzaren adarrak — the branches of a tree.

  3. 3

Branch, in git. A line of work that splits from the trunk — and often comes back.

In Basque, one word names the branches of a tree and the antlers of a deer: shapes that split, grow and carry their whole history in their form. A Git repository grows the same way. We just drew it.

The app

A commit graph you can hold in your hands.

Lanes, labels, avatars and a live // WIP node. Drag a branch onto another to merge or rebase. Tens of thousands of commits, still smooth.

Features

Everything you do in git. Now you can see it.

Adar is the whole of your daily git — commits, branches, rebases, conflicts, remotes — laid out where you can touch it, with an undo button for when you touch the wrong thing.

Commit graph

Coloured lanes, avatars, branch, tag and remote labels, stashes and a // WIP node. Search by message, author, SHA, content or path — smooth through tens of thousands of commits.

Drag & drop

Drop a branch onto another to merge, rebase, fast-forward or push.

Stage by line

Stage or discard whole files, single hunks or just the lines you mean.

Visual interactive rebase

Pick, reword, edit, squash, fixup or drop — and drag to reorder.

Undo & redo

Checkouts, commits, branches, tags, resets, stashes: take them back with ⌘Z.

Merge conflicts

Pick A, B or both, edit the output, then continue, skip or abort.

Command palette & console

Every action a few keystrokes away (⌘P), and a built-in git console when you want to type.

Tabs & tab groups

Keep a project’s repositories together under a named, coloured group and reopen them in one click.

  • Unified & split diffs
  • Intra-line highlights
  • Image diffs
  • File history & blame
  • Edit any commit message
  • Amend
  • Stashes
  • Submodules
  • Tags
  • Background fetch
  • Pull: ff-only, merge or rebase
  • Force-push with lease
  • Clone with progress
  • Dark & light themes
  • In-app updates
  • Keyboard first

Works with every repository

Your git. Your keys. Your machine.

Adar drives the git already installed on your Mac, so it works with exactly the credentials you use in the terminal. When git needs a username, a token or an SSH passphrase, Adar asks in a dialog and git stores it with your usual credential helper.

  • SSH keys and the agent
  • macOS Keychain
  • gh auth & credential helpers
  • Git LFS and hooks

No account

Nothing to sign up for, no proxy servers, no limits on which repositories you open.

No telemetry

Adar doesn’t phone home. Anything that would talk to a third-party service is opt-in.

Safe by default

Destructive actions ask first and can be undone. Repositories whose config would run commands open only once you trust them.

Command line

From terminal to graph in four letters.

Type adar in any repository — like code . — and it opens in a new tab. Point it at a folder that holds several repositories and they open together as a tab group. Install it once from Adar → Install Command Line Tool…

    Install

Open the .dmg and drag Adar to Applications.
